Christian Music that's worth a listen (Part 1)
Recently i have fallen into the trap of making out that christian music as a whole has nothing of value to offer. I have many problems with the way christian music operates and presents its self, and yes there are plenty of people out there who have a negative impact on the genre but there are also those who are doing something brilliant.
Every time i feel like there is nothing good in the...

A Christian Un-organization....
I’m not sure how many of you will know this but the summer before last I was applying to go on a team to Canada with a christian organization. It was quite a lengthy process, first of all I had to fill out a pretty in depth application form, I then had an interview with two of the local reps, at this point everything was going great, the guys from the organization seemed pretty excited for...

nom nom nom
I think most people would agree that we live in a consumer society, we consume large amounts of pretty much everything and create a lot of waste in the process.
But…
What does a consumer society look like in practise??
Who you are and what you do are no longer important but what you consume is. It doesn’t matter if you are a doctor, an artist or even whether or not you have...

Charlie Chaplin Time Traveller
I find this entire thing hilarious, i saw the video that i have posted below after seeing a few local people talking about it on Twitter. At this stage it only had about 1000 views and it was relatively unheard of. Tonight i go on Twitter and i see that Charlie Chaplin is trending and i’m thinking…there’s no way that this could actually be about the same thing, but it was and...

Basia Bulat
This is definitely a belated post. We (The 1930s) had the pleasure of playing with Basia Bulat at last years cathedral quarters arts festival in Belfast.I will admit that i had never heard of her, before we were asked to play the gig, but i really should have! So having no idea who we would be playing with, i went on youtube and found the video that i have posted below. I love this song and i have...

Too Hardcore??
I have looked at groups of christians and weighed up whether or not I could be a part of that group. I have thought that some groups are too liberal, and I have looked at others and thought they were too uptight. I have also looked at people and thought that I could get along with them because they like the occasional drink, and they don’t mind using words you didn’t hear in Sunday...

Thoughts....
Thoughts come like a run away train
or unexpected torrential rain
you see its approach but there’s nothing you can do
to separate its impact from you
You can try and push it to the back of your mind
push it out with a thought to make you smile
but they both run on parallel lines
with identical tracks and lines
Wanting to see the world through deeper eyes
will come to you as a...

New Song....
Some people think that rules keep us alive
You’re only worth your shirt and your tie
If you don’t own these then your’re not worth a damn
and you will surely die
Crawl up a mountain on your hands and knees
If you are in pain then gods wrath is appeased
You cant be happy is what you believe
You have surely died

Genesis 1
When I started reading this I was pretty sure I knew everything that there was to know about Genesis 1. Everyone knows that the first chapter of the Bible is all about God creating the universe.
This is what I always thought of it as, I thought of it as God marking off the things he was creating…. “Universe..Check, Light check, Day and night check” etc etc. To a certain extent this is true...
I can't read that.....
I often find myself blaming my outlook on certain things because of the environment I grew up in, sometimes it is unwarranted, but in this case I think It’s fair to say that growing up in church has made reading the bible very very hard!
I can remember years ago being bought devotional notes; you know the ones i’m talking about, they ask you to read 1 or 2 verses and then the rest of...

Trolling...
Trolling
Trolling is the act of purposefully antagonizing other people on the internet, generally on message boards. When done in a moderated internet community, this can result in banning.
So I never actually knew this activity had a name I usually referred to at as being a nob but you learn something new everyday. The BBC were interviewing a couple who’s son had died. His friends had set...

What do you believe in?
At the moment i am reading Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller (Great Book by the way) and something he said got the hamster in my head to run a little bit faster. He started to question what people today believe in. Good question.
My opinion is there are 3 types of people when it comes to believing in something.
1. I think there are those who think it is “uncool” to believe in...

Generic Guff... so bad they put my name on it...
The thought behind this blog has been a problem before but in the last couple of days it showed up with vengeance to remind me just how much it aggravates me. The thought being that people use Jesus to sell themselves.
I can’t go into much detail without massively offending someone but i noticed some bands like to throw the name of Jesus about pretty lightly. When they say it you can...

Turn the music down - Intro
I decided i would try and do a bit of blogging about something i know about and it didn’t take much thought to decide on song writing. Iv’e never really been the kind of person to big myself up in any way but if i had to pick something i thought i was good at i guess this would be it.
People write songs in loads of different ways. People write songs for different reasons, some are...

Is pain the problem?
Is pain the problem or is pain just a way of making you aware of the problem.
Ok so if i was to go out, fall over and some how manage to cut my knee it would hurt and also bleed. My thinking may be entirely flawed but to me the bleeding is the problem and the pain is your bodies way of making you aware that you are losing blood.
So if this is correct (which it may not be) what about emotional...

Blessed are the cracked.....
Earlier today i received some very bad news from someone very close to me, i won’t go into details because that’s not what this is about. To me this was yet another reminder of how flawed everything is. I don’t want to sound like a pessimistic git but lets face it there’s not really anything in this world you could call infallible. Anyway i ended up leaving a tweet...

Lesbians stole my favourite drink!
Alright so one of my favourite drinks is Ginger Beer it just tastes so flipping good.It tastes so good that i was on a google powered quest to buy some in bulk. So i started my google powered quest by typing in “Ginger Beer”..(like you do) then i hit search and waited an obscene amount of time because the Internet in work makes sending a pigeon more feasible than sending an email.
So...

Peppa pig is made to wear a seatbelt...
This is one of those moments were you could swear the world has gone mad. Basically Peppa pig has been getting into a car without a seat belt on…i know aren’t you as shocked as i am…she didn’t strike me as the rebellious type. Some parents have complained to the creators saying that their children follow her example.
It’s aimed for two year olds…has no one...
